About The Position

CDM Smith is looking for an entry-level Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Group. This position offers early-career candidates the opportunity to apply their engineering skills to innovative and sustainable water projects while building technical expertise and growing within a dynamic team. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and implementation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and associated infrastructure. You will work alongside experienced engineers and our Regional Lead Service Line Rehabilitation Project Technical Lead, based in Indianapolis, to develop solutions that meet client needs and comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards while gaining valuable office and field experience. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging and sustainable water infrastructure projects while developing technical skills, gaining real-world project experience, and learning from experienced professionals across the Water Services Group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 0 years of experience.
  • An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
  • Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
  • Good verbal and written communication ability.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred FE Exam scheduled or EIT obtained
  • Preferred knowledge or coursework related to Water/Waste Water and/or drinking water engineering

Responsibilities

  • Support site assessments, field investigations, and project studies.
  • Assist with design development and adjust design parameters based on project requirements and field findings.
  • Perform water quality analyses, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, and other engineering analyses.
  • Prepare technical reports, project documentation, presentations, and other deliverables for client meetings and industry conferences.
  • Use tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software to support project design and analysis.
  • Office and in-field coordination to support regional lead service line rehabilitation projects.
  • Participate in fieldwork and construction management activities, providing exposure to projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
