Environmental Engineer

SNF Holding Company•Riceboro, GA

About The Position

SNF is a specialty chemical group whose water-soluble polymer products contribute to treating and recycling water, preserving resources, saving energy, and reducing carbon footprint. The company operates on all continents and employs 9,000 people, including more than 2,700 in the United States. Innovation and movement toward a cleaner, less carbon-intensive world accelerate SNF’s growth. The Environmental Engineer manages day-to-day air compliance at SNF’s Riceboro manufacturing facility, with primary responsibility for implementing and maintaining the facility’s Title V air permit requirements. The role coordinates emissions monitoring, Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR), stack testing, compliance documentation, regulatory reporting, and agency inspections. Working with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Corporate Environmental, and external consultants, the Environmental Engineer identifies air compliance concerns, coordinates corrective actions, and evaluates the compliance implications of process, operational, and equipment changes. External consultants prepare air permit applications and modifications; the Environmental Engineer provides facility, process, equipment, and emissions information, coordinates site activities, and implements resulting compliance requirements. This position has no direct reports. It also develops working knowledge of other environmental permits and regulatory programs governing the site, including IPP and RCRA requirements, to provide backup support during agency inspections and audits.

  • Collect, review, validate, and trend required daily, shift, and periodic air compliance data, including readings for scrubbers, thermal oxidizers, incinerators, cryogenic systems, and other applicable control equipment.
  • Perform routine plant rounds and coordinate investigations of missing readings, out-of-range conditions, excess emissions, and potential permit deviations; document findings and track corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Environmental and external consultants on permit renewals, applications, and modifications; provide facility process, equipment, and emissions information and implement resulting site requirements.
  • Participate in environmental reviews of proposed process changes, new equipment, capital projects, MOCs, PSSRs, and PHAs; identify potential air permit impacts and elevate permitting needs before implementation.
  • Serve as the site lead and principal contractor contact for LDAR; coordinate inspections, equipment inventories and tagging or retagging, MOC-driven updates, leak follow-up, repair tracking, and supporting records.
  • Coordinate routine visual LDAR inspections and follow up on identified issues.
  • Serve as the site point of contact for annual, initial, and other required stack testing; coordinate schedules, operating conditions, testing contractors, sample collection and shipment, and testing documentation.
  • Maintain excess emissions and permit deviation logs.
  • Serve as the primary site contact for Title V agency audits and inspections; organize records, accompany inspectors as appropriate, and track information requests and corrective actions.
  • Assist with air-related environmental incident investigations and spill or release response, including required sampling, documentation, and notifications, as assigned.
  • Maintain and update site environmental procedures and facility documentation relevant to air emissions and Title V compliance, with Corporate Environmental review as applicable.
  • Provide air compliance onboarding and recurring training; hold meetings with individual operating units to review concerns, permit requirements, and project updates.
  • Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and consultants to evaluate air pollution control equipment performance and resolve compliance issues.
  • Work with Corporate Environmental and consultants to assess changes in applicable air requirements and maintain technical competence through appropriate continuing education.
