The Environmental Engineer at Michigan Sugar Company supports the Company’s environmental compliance program across its sugar beet processing facilities as well as its smaller packaging and warehousing sites in Ohio, with a primary focus on air compliance and the flexibility to assist with solid waste, by-product, and wastewater compliance activities as needed. On the air side, the role drives Title V and Renewable Operating Permit (ROP) compliance, including recordkeeping, continuous monitoring, day-to-day compliance management, auditing, preparing and maintaining air permits, and assisting with training of employees on environmental compliance topics. The Environmental Engineer works closely with and reports to the Director of Environmental, partners with the Wastewater Compliance Manager on cross-media environmental matters, and coordinates with external consultants and contractors as needed on regulatory and technical matters. This is a hands-on, facility-based position requiring regular presence at facilities at a recurring cadence, as well as on an as-needed basis to support unannounced regulatory inspections, monitoring events, and stack testing. As experience and program ownership develop, this position offers a defined path toward an Environmental Compliance Manager role.
