About The Position

APTIM is seeking a motivated entry-level Environmental Engineer to support our portfolio of federal environmental investigation and remediation projects. Projects commonly involve the investigation and remediation of sites with groundwater or soil impacted by chlorinated solvents, petroleum, radiological contaminants, or emerging compounds. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of project managers and partner with other engineers, scientists, geologists, risk assessors, and technologists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or a related engineering discipline (completed or in progress).
  • Relevant internship, research, or academic project experience involving environmental investigation or water or wastewater treatment (0–2 years).
  • Strong interest in environmental remediation, field investigations, treatment systems, and environmental compliance.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn field sampling methods, equipment operation, and environmental data collection procedures.
  • Ability to perform essential field duties, including walking on uneven terrain, lifting and carrying field equipment, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear and use required PPE.
  • Ability to travel to work sites, including overnight travel.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work on federal contracts.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Completion of 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) to support technical communication, analytical tasks, research, and efficient project execution. Upon hire, employees are expected to use these tools in accordance with approved company guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection, documentation, and organization of field data to support project objectives.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project work plans and deliverables.
  • Assist with the development of technical scopes of work and cost estimates for proposal efforts.
  • Identify and evaluate environmental risks and recommend remediation strategies to support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform engineering calculations, analyze environmental data, and assist with remediation system design.
  • Assist in the management, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data using statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Adhere to established health and safety policies and procedures and execute work in a safe and conscientious manner.
