About The Position

Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. RGI, established in 1908, has the distinction of being recognized as the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States. Rogers Group is currently seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Engineer to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent college graduate with a Civil Engineering degree who is eager to begin a career in environmental compliance and management within the aggregates and asphalt highway construction industry. This position will report to the Regional Environmental Manager and will play a crucial role in supporting our environmental initiatives. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead safety, quality, and revenue generation throughout our existing operations and additional operations through growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.
  • Basic understanding of Federal and State Mining, Water, and Air Regulations.
  • Knowledge of erosion and sedimentation processes and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • EIT (Engineer-In-Training) certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with 401 and 404 permitting processes is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with site compliance and permitting regarding air, water, mining, and other applicable regulations.
  • Support the preparation and submission of modification and renewal applications for water, air, mining, and other applicable permits.
  • Participate in site audits for quarries, asphalt plants, shops, and construction sites.
  • Collect samples to support environmental compliance.
  • Entering environmental data, preparing reports, and analyzing data in support of operations.
  • Contribute to project management and coordination efforts.
  • Assist in preparing, presenting, and training employees on necessary records and reports required to be maintained on site.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with municipal and State Agencies under the guidance of senior staff.
