About The Position

CDM Smith is looking for an entry-level Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Group! This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer to apply their skills to innovative and sustainable water and wastewater projects while learning from experienced engineers and growing within a collaborative team. In this role, you’ll contribute to the design and implementation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and other critical infrastructure. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you’ll gain hands-on experience across multiple stages of the project lifecycle. At CDM Smith, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on diverse projects while building the technical, communication, and project management skills needed for a successful engineering career.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 0 years of experience.
  • Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
  • Good verbal and written communication ability.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of water and wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform site assessments and field investigations to support project design and development.
  • Assist with water quality analyses, engineering calculations, and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.
  • Adjust design parameters and develop solutions based on project requirements, site conditions, and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, and other project documentation.
  • Develop drawings, maps, presentations, and other project materials using tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software.
  • Collaborate with project teams and contribute to presentations for clients, industry conferences, and other stakeholders.
  • Support construction management activities and participate in fieldwork, providing exposure to projects from initial planning and design through construction.
