About The Position

J.B. Poindexter & Co., Inc. (JBPCO) is a privately held, diversified manufacturing company forecasting over $2.5B in annual revenues and employing over 8,000 team members. The six operating subsidiaries, covering 60 locations, are engaged in the production of commercial truck bodies, step-vans, utility trucks, ambulances, electric and alternative fuel vehicles, and expandable foam plastic packaging. Reporting to the Director, Environmental Center of Excellence, the Environmental Engineer is responsible for reviewing and providing guidance & leadership related to company environmental compliance. This individual will have a strong knowledge of environmental regulatory compliance and will be responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the company and ensuring that compliance with environmental legislation is met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental or safety engineering or similar discipline.
  • 10+ years of environmental compliance experience including EPA & OSHA; multi-site experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with regulatory agencies to manage inquiries and actions.
  • Excellent communication & problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate complex compliance matters and develop corrective actions.
  • Ability to engage, influence and inspire company-wide environmental objectives.
  • Expert knowledge of Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, TSCA, SPCC, and other JBPCO environmental policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of company environmental strategy and initiatives.
  • Lead communication of environmental performance, programs, and initiatives at JBPCO and with external stakeholders.
  • Develop and lead JBPCO environmental training programs.
  • Responsible for environmental compliance policies and procedures, including management system policies.
  • Execute assurance/audit programs for environmental compliance.
  • Lead and/or participate in investigation of environmental incidents, implement system improvements to reduce potential for future events.
