About The Position

CDM Smith is looking for an entry-level Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Group. This is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates to apply their engineering skills to meaningful water and wastewater projects while building a strong foundation for a career in the water industry. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging and sustainable water infrastructure projects while developing technical skills, gaining real-world project experience, and learning from experienced professionals across the Water Services Group. As part of our team, you’ll contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of a variety of projects, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer conveyance systems, water reuse projects, pipelines, and related infrastructure. Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you’ll gain exposure to projects from initial planning and design through construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 0 years of experience.
  • Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
  • Good verbal and written communication ability.
  • An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of engineering designs, calculations, plans, specifications, and technical documentation for water and wastewater projects.
  • Assist with site assessments, field investigations, and project studies to inform design decisions.
  • Perform water quality analyses, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, and other engineering analyses under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Review designs and project documents for compliance with client requirements and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop technical reports, presentations, and other project documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to client meetings, presentations, and industry conferences.
  • Utilize engineering and design tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other software to support project delivery.
  • Participate in fieldwork and construction management activities, providing valuable hands-on experience and exposure to the full project lifecycle.
