About The Position

At GHD, we are looking for an Environmental Scientist, Environmental Engineer, or Geologist to join our Environmental business in Midland, TX. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to our Contamination Assessment & Remediation service line by coordinating and implementing a wide range of environmental solutions and projects. You will be part of an energetic and high-performing team, involved in research, design, planning, and performing engineering duties related to the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards. Work may encompass waste treatment, site remediation, or pollution control technology.

Requirements

  • 3-8 years of experience in environmental consulting including environmental permitting & compliance, remediation & design, site assessments, report writing, data management & interpretation and project coordination.
  • Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently.
  • Strong working knowledge of NMOCD and NM SLO rules and regulations as it relates to assessment and remediation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to undertake field work is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or related field.
  • 13 months to 3 years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • PE or PG in Texas or New Mexico will be highly regarded.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification a plus.
  • Electrical systems and remediation system operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of engineering solutions, including the feasibility testing approach and supervision of its implementation.
  • Follow organizational health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies and procedures to mitigate environmental risks and ensure workplace safety.
  • Lead waste projects or supervise areas, ensuring adherence to regulations and effective waste management.
  • Support technical troubleshooting efforts for equipment and experiments.
  • Research and suggest technical developments to improve website/portal/software and infrastructure.
  • Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats, working independently.
  • Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards.
  • Carry out research activities to support others or fulfill role requirements.
  • Develop personal capabilities through assessment, development planning, training, and coaching; maintain external professional accreditation.
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices.
  • Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships.
  • Prepare technical correspondence, project proposals, reports, work plans, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate and implement project permitting.
  • Interpret and evaluate environmental regulations.
  • Compile, reduce, and interpret data.
  • Understand remediation, remediation methods, and operations and maintenance requirements.
