Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or geoscientist in Ontario, or ability to register
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental/civil/geological engineering, geology, hydrogeology or related earth/environmental sciences field.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental consulting and/or related work experience.
  • Strong interest in growing and developing the company's contaminated sites management services through the coaching / technical mentoring of staff
  • Strong conceptual skills in evaluation of geological and hydrogeological systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated capabilities in multidisciplinary teamwork as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Strong background in several of: Phase I, II & III ESAs, spill response, hazardous materials surveys, excess soils, landfill monitoring and contaminated site remediation projects that include soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment and soil vapour sampling.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation and policies.
  • Demonstrated success in the leadership of multidisciplinary project teams and business development.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and plan work to meet time-based deliverables and adapt to changing expectations.
  • Strong proficiency in proposal and report writing, presentations, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working around heavy equipment, including drill rigs and excavators

Nice To Haves

  • Additional background would be considered an asset for projects involving hazardous materials assessments, risk assessments, hydrogeological investigations, geophysics, solid waste management, environmental management, or industrial air quality.
  • Ground disturbance training would be considered an asset
  • Understanding of AUTOCAD, GIS, Surfer, GINT or database abilities will be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute and lead in the implementation of Dillon’s strategic growth plan and operational business plans.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of relationships with existing clients
  • Lead the identification and development of new business opportunities with both private and public sector clients
  • Respond to Requests for Proposals related to contaminated sites work and develop strong client relationships
  • Travel to other business locations and Dillon offices for the purposes of client relationship development, opportunity/project research and project delivery, as necessary
  • Leading projects related to the assessment and management of environmental contaminants in soil, groundwater, and other media, phased environmental site assessments (ESAs) and the Record of Site Condition (O.Reg. 153/04 RSC) process and remediation in Ontario.
  • Leading and/or contributing to technical work relating to excess soils management in Ontario (O.Reg. 406/19). This may include preparation of Assessments of Past Use, Sampling and Analysis Plans, Soil Characterization Reports, Excess Soil Destination Assessment Reports, preparation or review of contractor submittals, or strategy development.
  • Manage other environmental projects including spill response, hazardous materials surveys, landfill monitoring, and contaminated site remediation projects.
  • Manage environmental site assessment projects, that follow the Federal CCME Framework, for various federal departments and agencies as well as Indigenous Communities throughout Ontario.
  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of technical reports including: Phase I/II/III ESAs, conceptual site models, remedial options evaluations and remedial action plans
  • Commit to being part of a learning organization, to providing leadership and contributing to the career development of a growing team of junior/intermediate staff, including providing technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
