About The Position

Come work in swamp and bayou country at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. We are a Platinum LEED facility with award-winning education programs! Programs are offered in our organic garden and in the 250+ acres of bayou, cypress-tupelo swamp, forest, and meadows. Have fun as a valuable member of the staff at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, a program of the Nelda C. and H. J. Lutcher Stark Foundation. Requirements

• A bachelor degree required
• Current Texas or Louisiana teaching certification required

Nice To Haves

• Teaching experience, either formal or informal, is a plus.
• Preference will be given to those with knowledge of current Shangri La programs.

Responsibilities

• Teach onsite curriculum-based and outreach programs for school groups, Pre-K through 8th grade (70%)
• Provide interpretation during Outpost Tours (20%)
• Assist in training and coaching volunteers and staff (5%)
• Design and conduct workshops and programs for teachers and the general public (5%)
• Design and conduct summer camps as needed
• Other duties may be assigned
