Environmental Education Specialist - Beltzville State Park
About The Position
Start an exciting career as an Environmental Education Specialist with the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources. You will help create meaningful programs that bring the park's natural and cultural stories to life. Join a team that values learning, exploration, and community connection. This position develops and presents educational and interpretive programs that teach park visitors about natural and cultural resources. You will play a key role in helping the public connect with the outdoors through guided activities and environmental learning.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in environmental education, education, the natural sciences, social sciences, or parks and recreation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- Willingness to work weekends and evenings.
- Willingness to wear a prescribed uniform.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
- Meet the PA residency requirement.
- Able to perform essential job functions.
- Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
Responsibilities
- Create and present environmental and interpretive programs for visitors of all ages
- Lead structured lessons, guided walks, talks, and hands-on learning experiences
- Organize recreational events, guest programs, and volunteer activities
- Maintain educational materials, displays, and equipment used for programs
- Prepare schedules, brochures, press releases, and social media content
- Assist with office tasks, answer questions, and provide customer service to park guests
