About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Environmental Engineer, the Environmental Coordinator will join an experienced project team advancing a large open pit mining project in British Columbia through environmental assessment, permitting and into construction. The successful candidate will support environmental aspects of project development, including coordinating field programs, tracking environmental commitments and assisting with technical and regulatory deliverables while maintaining a strong commitment to safety. The role will be based in Barriere, with regular travel to the project site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, natural resource management, biology, geology or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including support for environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, environmental monitoring or environmental consulting.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites and field locations as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating or supporting field-based environmental programs in mining, infrastructure or resource development projects is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with provincial and federal environmental regulatory processes in British Columbia is considered an asset.
  • Registration with EGBC or another relevant professional association in British Columbia is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, field activities and project deliverables in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining clear communication with project teams and supervisors.
  • Detail-oriented with strong data management, documentation and record-keeping abilities.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Practical understanding of environmental field programs, baseline studies and regulatory permitting processes.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with consultants, contractors, regulators, Indigenous Nations and community stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard environmental data management and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate environmental baseline studies, field investigations and monitoring programs in support of environmental assessment and permitting activities.
  • Maintain accountability for the safe and efficient execution of field programs, including coordination of schedules, resources, logistics, budgets, reporting and consultant activities.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to company health, safety and environmental procedures, participating in safety meetings and hazard assessments and ensuring incidents and observations are reported appropriately.
  • Support the development and tracking of field program scopes, schedules, budgets and deliverables.
  • Coordinate environmental consultants and contractors and assist with the coordination and review of technical data and study outputs to support data quality and regulatory defensibility.
  • Support the preparation, coordination and submission of environmental assessment and permitting documentation.
  • Track regulatory requirements, permit conditions, project commitments and approval timelines.
  • Maintain organized records of permitting documentation, technical reports, environmental data and regulatory correspondence.
  • Assist with compliance reporting, project updates and internal tracking systems as required.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, consultants and contractors to support environmental planning and project execution.
  • Coordinate technical inputs, meetings, action items and deliverables related to environmental programs and permitting activities.
  • Support engagement activities with local regulators, Indigenous Nations, communities and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with preparation of presentation materials, meeting summaries and project communications.
  • Other activities as requested to support the team in delivery of environmental assessment and permitting requirements for the Project.
