Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in environmental compliance or sustainability roles in an industrial setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal environmental regulations (EPA, RCRA, CAA, CWA)
  • Experience with environmental management systems (ISO14001)
  • Experience in managing environmental compliance including reporting and recordkeeping, environmental permitting for all media, manufacturing operations, regulatory reviews, etc.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to effectively communicate and teach both in private group settings.
  • Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in environmental management (CHMM, REM, or equivalent) is a plus
  • Familiarity with corporate sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, CDP, etc.)
  • Experience in automotive or metal stamping, fabrication and coating industries.
  • Project management experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the development and delivery of the environmental program and ensures compliance with government standards.
  • Conducts regular audits and inspections and reports findings and recommendations to management.
  • Assist with tracking and documenting environmental compliance activities (Ex. Air emissions, waste management, stormwater, wastewater)
  • Support the HSSE Leader in maintaining permits and regulatory reporting (EPA, state and local agencies)
  • Conduct formal and informal facility inspections/audits to ensure adherence to environmental standards and procedures
  • Establish and maintain environmental written programs (SPCC, SWPPP, GPP, etc.)
  • Collect data and maintain records related to energy use, water consumption, chemical storage, and waste streams.
  • Help coordinate recycling and waste minimization programs
  • Lead and/or participate in the investigation of environmental incidents and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Willingness to learn and work as a TEAM. Stay current on applicable environmental regulations and industry best practice
  • Assist with the development and deployment of environmental awareness and training programs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing environmental performance and sustainability.
  • Ensure compliance with Magna Environmental Principles (corporate standards)
  • Participate in corporate environmental audits and inspections and drive corrective actions
  • Participate in the facility’s Chemical Approval Process and assist with maintaining current Safety Data Sheets
  • Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as required.
