About The Position

Supervise and conduct operation and maintenance activities at all assigned closed landfills. This role requires managing site operations within budget, supervising contractors, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies. The position involves coordinating workflow, overseeing repairs and maintenance of landfill systems, and collecting/reporting data. Direct supervision of third-party contractors and consultants is a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D (accredited).
  • One (1) to three (3) years of previous relevant experience (in addition to education requirement).
  • Health, safety and environmental regulations knowledge, and supervisory experience may be required.
  • Possess written and verbal communication skills and computer skills (e.g., MS office and Power BI familiarity) and ability to learn to utilize other job-related technical software. Including, but not limited to “App” based technologies to facilitate digital inspections, reporting and data/analytics.
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative for potential air travel or access to federal property.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 1910.120 Hazwoper training and First aid.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences/Studies or equivalent technical degree and one (1) three (3) years of environmental field experiences.
  • Some knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers, SCADA and/or automation and control systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and conduct operation and maintenance activities at all assigned closed landfills.
  • Demonstrate a solid working knowledge of all site-specific system operation and maintenance requirements including landfill gas management systems and controls, leachate management systems and controls, treatment systems and controls, groundwater and surface water systems as well as other ancillary equipment and other site maintenance requirements through on-site training.
  • Manage site operation and maintenance activities within assigned site budgets. Notify District Manager if activities will cause a variance to annual budgeted amounts.
  • Supervise contractors and consultants. Review and evaluate work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate workflow and assignments toward the achievement of operational goals.
  • Supervise and monitor daily landfill operations, and review and control implementation of safety regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate, oversee repairs, maintenance, and inspections of closed landfill systems.
  • Collect/Review weekly and/or monthly readings. Create and submit records and reports.
  • Direct supervision of third-party contractors and consultants.
