About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to support the Spent Fuel Handling Recapitalization Project (SFHP) site in Scoville, ID. The role involves ensuring site-specific SFHP environmental procedures are implemented during construction activities through subcontractor oversight. This position requires comprehension and application of SFHP environmental procedures, performing environmental inspections, audits, and field oversight of construction. The specialist will spend approximately 90% of their time in the field, collaborating with construction, engineering, and safety teams, as well as subcontractors, to ensure environmental aspects are integrated into work execution. Key responsibilities include identifying, reporting, and correcting environmental deficiencies, overseeing spill response, managing wildlife observations impacting construction, ensuring secondary containment effectiveness, inspecting construction equipment for leaks, coaching craft personnel on environmental compliance, and managing various waste streams. The role also involves responding to emergent environmental issues and supporting the preparation/review of project-specific environmental plans and procedures. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will report to the Environmental Compliance Manager (ECM) and support other environmental coordinators as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One or more years of experience in a construction setting.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • USA citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and effectively communicate.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must take and pass a pre-employment drug, background check and site security badge screening.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in environmental science or technical discipline is preferred.
  • Technical writing skills are preferred.
  • Ideal candidate is in the vicinity of Idaho Falls.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure site-specific SFHP environmental procedures are implemented during construction activities through subcontractor oversight.
  • Perform environmental inspections, audits, and field oversight of construction activities.
  • Identify, report, and correct environmental deficiencies.

  • Respond to wildlife observations impacting construction.
  • Ensure secondary containment is adequate and effective.
