About The Position

Supports Solid Fuel-Fired Power Plant activities related to the chemistry laboratory, water treatment facilities and ensures environmental compliance relative to local, state and federal environmental regulations. Specifically, the employee is involved with sample collection, testing, monitoring and reporting functions to appropriate entities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
  • 7 Years related chemical/environmental experience
  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
  • Proficiency in water chemistry operations preferred.
  • Computer software applications Knowledge preferred (Maximo, PI, PHD, Stack Vision, Fleet Vision, Microsoft, etc.)
  • AC/DC electronics, and electrical troubleshooting knowledge
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with others both internally and externally.
  • Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and chemical guidelines as they pertain coal fired power plant .

Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret chemical analysis of substances to determine their chemical properties
  • Assist in developing, evaluating, maintaining, and executing new and established procedures or requirements and standard operating procedures
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze samples to determine appropriate analysis and methodology
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate lab instrumentation
  • Verify, interpret and/or approve data and prepare reports
  • Comply with applicable regulatory permits, standard policies, codes, regulations, etc.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of lab safety guidelines
  • Monitor and control water treatment chemicals
  • Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision
  • Operate and assist in the repair of water treatment equipment: reverse osmosis systems, demineralizers, boiler chemical feed system, water/steam sample system, etc.
  • Analyze samples, document and report the results and follow QA/QC procedures.
  • Maintain proper chemical inventory for water treatment
  • Responsible for meeting all environmental permit requirements. This includes all record keeping requirements associated with permits
  • Completion of end of the year reports that address chemical and water usage
  • Assist in the training of Operators
