Environmental (Biological) Field Technicians (On-Call)
About The Position
Trinity Consultants is hiring multiple on-call Environmental (Biological) Field Technicians for its Southwest teams. The role performs biological field surveys, environmental compliance monitoring, and field data collection in support of environmental consulting and construction projects. Technicians identify and document biological resources, monitor construction activities for compliance with environmental requirements, and support established environmental protection measures. They work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively with project teams, following established protocols, maintaining accurate field documentation, and communicating observations and potential compliance concerns to project leadership. Positions may be based in Phoenix or Tucson, Arizona.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of biological field survey methods, environmental monitoring procedures, and basic wildlife identification techniques.
- Ability to identify and document local wildlife, vegetation, and biological resources relevant to assigned projects.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, permit conditions, and construction monitoring protocols.
- Ability to accurately collect, record, and communicate field observations and project data.
- Strong observational, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work for extended periods in remote outdoor environments, rugged terrain, and varying weather conditions.
Nice To Haves
- Zero to two years of experience; relevant academic fieldwork, internships, research, or other hands-on field experience preferred.
- Experience conducting biological field surveys, wildlife assessments, or environmental monitoring through academic, internship, or professional settings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct biological field surveys, pre- and post-construction assessments, and environmental monitoring according to established protocols and project requirements.
- Identify, observe, and document wildlife, vegetation, sensitive species, and other biological resources in assigned project areas.
- Monitor construction and ground-disturbing activities to support compliance with applicable environmental regulations, permits, and mitigation requirements.
- Assist with wildlife handling, relocation, and other species protection activities, including desert tortoises, when appropriately trained and authorized.
- Collect, record, and maintain accurate field data, including survey forms, monitoring logs, photographs, maps, and other project documentation.
- Promptly communicate biological discoveries, environmental concerns, potential compliance issues, and safety hazards to designated project personnel.
- Coordinate with construction crews, field supervisors, project managers, and other team members regarding environmental constraints and monitoring requirements.
- Prepare daily field reports, monitoring summaries, and other assigned project documentation.
- Perform assigned field activities according to project schedules, technical requirements, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Safely operate company or project vehicles and field equipment according to applicable policies and site requirements.
- Perform other related field and project-support duties as assigned.
