About The Position

The Environmental Services Aide (Male or Female) has direct responsibility for providing a clean, friendly, and safe environment for the patients and visitors of Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.

Requirements

  • Minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of less than 6 months of job-related experience.
  • Must possess the manual ability to perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, wiping, polishing and moving furniture.
  • Be knowledgeable of mixing all chemicals properly such as stripper, all purpose, germicide, glass cleaner and carpet care chemicals.
  • Must participate in all in-services, method of wk. training and all other training classes nec. for safety of oneself and facility.
  • Be knowledgeable of an adhere to the policies set forth in the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center administrative policies and procedures manual.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a hospital-related environment.
  • Sufficient physical strength to perform strenuous custodial activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, wiping, polishing, and moving furniture.
  • High dust and wipe clean using germicidal solution on all vents, light fixtures, ceiling tiles, doors, furniture, equipment, telephones, TVs, window sills, trash receptacles, beds, and mattresses.
  • Wash and clean all bathtubs, sinks, showers, and toilets.
  • Replenish all supplies including soap, paper towels, and toilets as required.
  • May change drapery, shades, cubicle curtains, and shower curtains.
  • Vacuum carpeted areas of the hospital, walk-off mats at entrance areas, and elevator tracks.
  • Clean all glass in the hospital, including mirrors and partitions.
  • Collect all trash and refuse from any size container in patient rooms, utility rooms, and offices.
  • Bag and store trash at designated areas for disposal in the compactor. Trash may include regulated medical waste and may involve changing sharps containers.
  • Be knowledgeable of mixing all chemicals properly such as stripper, all-purpose, germicide, glass cleaner, and carpet care chemicals.
  • Sweep floors with treated dust mops, clean corners, edges, and baseboards, extract and buff hard flooring surfaces, and shampoo carpeted areas.
  • Use automatic equipment such as buffers, auto scrubbers, and wet vacuums to strip and scrub.
  • May be assigned to other areas of the hospital as per the manager's discretion due to facility needs.
  • May be assigned to move supplies, equipment, furniture, and patients in beds throughout the hospital.
  • May be called upon to clean grounds of litter and trash.
  • During inclement weather, may be called upon for removal of snow (e.g., shoveling, salting, and snow plowing).
  • Maintain and clean all equipment in janitors' closets to a sanitary condition.
  • Participate in all in-services, method of work training, and all other training classes necessary for the safety of oneself and the facility.
  • Perform all moving jobs within and on hospital grounds.
  • Help set up meetings and other related activities.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to the policies set forth in the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center administrative policies and procedures manual.
  • Perform all other duties as required.
