About The Position

The Environmental Aide Team Lead ensures proper cleaning and housekeeping that meets state, facility, and regulatory requirements, as well as RHS Infection Control standards and Environmental Services policies and procedures. This role is responsible for maintaining a neat, clean, and safe work environment, ensuring adequate supplies for cleaning, and assisting team members with moving equipment, cleaning, and beds. The Team Lead also performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1 year Prior housekeeping experience in a healthcare acute setting with knowledge of regulations, policies, procedures and accreditation standards (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
  • AHA Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all assignments have adequate coverage each shift and coordinates delivery of communication devices, supplies, and equipment.
  • In the absence of a supervisor, carries the department phone, answers all calls, and dispatches assignments promptly and effectively.
  • Trains all new staff members on proper cleaning for each area of the hospital.
  • Provides job-specific recertification training annually and on an as-needed basis.
  • Restocks supplies and cleans carts daily to maintain a smooth flow of operations.
  • Ensures areas are stocked with paper goods, soaps, chemicals, and reusable goods as applicable.
  • Demonstrates the ability to terminally clean and keep the assigned area clean in accordance with RHS policies.
  • Helps clean all areas, including but not limited to patient rooms, bathrooms, corridors, public areas, elevators, and ancillary areas such as nurses’ stations, laboratories, lounges, locker rooms, etc., by means not limited to sweeping, washing, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and sanitizing.
  • Maintains a safe patient care environment by consistently complying with RHS, DNV, State, and regulatory standards to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Follows guidelines for proper body mechanics, hazardous materials handling, and universal precautions to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Maintains a safe work area.
  • Performs all cleaning duties in a timely, safe, and thorough manner in compliance with Infection Control Standards, including dusting, cleaning, sanitizing, trash removal, and other services as needed.
  • Ensures areas are cleaned according to schedule and in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Ensures assignments are completed in a timely manner, ensuring quality/infection control measures are met consistently.
  • Ensures assigned areas are cleaned and continuously monitored to maintain the highest quality of order/cleanliness in accordance with departmental policies/procedures and schedules.
