About The Position

This position is for an Environmental Administrative Coordinator within the Environmental Management Department of Natural Resources. The role involves supervising financial and clerical activities of the Environmental Management Program, administering accounting functions for grants and contracts, and ensuring compliance with funding agency guidelines. The coordinator will work closely with environmental staff, the program manager, and the finance department to manage budgets, financial reporting, and administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of tribal administrative procedure forms for the Finance Department.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of D365 or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of tribal policies and procedures.
  • Ability to make budget plans and projections.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete work assignments to meet designated deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare, implement, and interpret the tribal financial system.
  • Ability to communicate and establish good working relationships with tribal staff and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration OR at least five years of professional experience as a Program Coordinator, Bookkeeper V or related field.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Tribal Driver Permit with Defensive Driving Course certificate (to be updated every 2 years).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise financial and clerical activities of the Environmental Management Program.
  • Administer accounting functions for multiple grants and contracts.
  • Verify financial transactions for consistency with funding agency guidelines.
  • Coordinate with environmental staff and program manager on travel authorizations, audits, property inventory, record keeping, and data management.
  • Perform oversight of program accounts in D365, maintaining updated accounts and managing budgets.
  • Maintain an accurate and updated financial accounting system.
  • Supervise all program bookkeeping and accounting procedures, personnel actions, travel authorizations, leave requests, iSolve timekeeping, leave audits, property and inventory, and other program administrative functions.
  • Develop and implement procedures for reporting financial status to agencies.
  • Ensure timely financial reporting for all grants and contracts.
  • Work with environmental staff to develop budget and grant proposals.
  • Prepare grants and contracts, including supporting documents, budget cover memos, and letters.
  • Assist the Program Manager and staff in setting goals, projecting budgets, and developing strategies.
  • Process financial reports, committee actions, and other documents through the agency.
  • Abide by the Yakama Nation rules and regulations.
