About The Position

This is an in-person role in Newington, CT, where the successful candidate will be responsible for the setup, mechanical troubleshooting, minor repair, and operation of envelope machines. The role involves performing setups, mechanical troubleshooting, and minor repairs on multiple pieces of equipment that other operators are using.

Requirements

  • Mechanical knowledge / aptitude is required for this position.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Thorough understanding of envelope manufacturing equipment setup and operation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor machine repairs.
  • Ability to apply written instructions to machine operation and product quality.
  • Good math skills.
  • Reliability through attendance, punctuality and attention to work station.
  • Demonstrates positive safety attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Perform setup on machines in a timely manner, cleaning the machine prior to setup and inspecting it as a preventive maintenance measure. Review and interpret recap instructions.
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting on machines and make minor adjustments/corrections to ensure dimensions and quality of the piece; monitor production.
  • Perform cutting operations and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Perform folder operations and operate the folder.
  • Hand-gather finished work and pack as necessary.
  • Operate electric pallet jack.
  • Perform other department operations as required.
  • Keep immediate work area neat and orderly.
  • Comply with company rules and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
  • Implement a commitment to quality philosophy and recommend methods and procedures to reduce cost and/or improve operating efficiency of the department.
  • Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and company.
