About The Position

Southern Landscape Group is seeking an Entry-Level Team Member to provide dependable support while learning safety procedures, quality standards, equipment, properties, and methods of performing work. This role is designed for individuals without advanced landscaping knowledge, emphasizing a willingness to learn, follow direction, work safely, contribute positively to the team, and take pride in providing exceptional client experiences. Through hands-on training, the team member will develop skills to operate basic landscape equipment and perform technical tasks, with opportunities for advancement into Technician positions.

Requirements

• A high school degree or GED
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use Apple technology for time tracking and job management
• Great analytical problem solving and decision making ability
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with clients and professionals
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient job site and ensures truck/tools/equipment are properly maintained.
• Ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule and budget to quality standard
• Responsible for all tools being returned to the shop at the end of a workday and tagging any tools needing repairs
• Ability to drive truck & trailer combinations
• Maintain a neat and clean professional appearance
• Works as a team member throughout Southern Landscape Group with a positive attitude
• Knows and supports the company’s vision, mission, and core values
• Valid Virginia driver’s license with insurable driving record

Responsibilities

• Review daily job assignments and job notes with the Team Leader to understand the work to be performed and the expectations for the property.
• Follow instructions from the Team Leader and experienced team members while learning Southern Landscape Group's procedures, quality standards, and safe work practices.
• Assist with landscape maintenance and mowing services including: mowing turf, edging turf and landscape areas, string trimming, blowing and cleaning hard surfaces, pulling weeds, assisting with landscape bed maintenance, assisting with pruning and plant maintenance, assisting with seasonal cleanups, and assisting with snow removal.
• Assist with landscape installation activities including: preparing landscape beds, moving and staging materials, assisting with plant and turf installation, watering newly installed plants and turf, and assisting with drainage, edging, grading, and other landscape installation activities.
• Assist with hardscape projects by preparing and maintaining work areas, moving and staging construction materials, assisting experienced team members with installations, and learning proper use of basic construction and measuring tools.
• Operate basic hand tools and small landscape equipment after receiving appropriate instruction and demonstrating safe operation.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and efficient job site throughout the workday.
• Observe client properties and communicate potential concerns, property damage, safety issues, or enhancement opportunities to the Team Leader.
• Perform assigned work efficiently while supporting the team's goals for schedule, quality, safety, and customer service.
