The location in Johnsonburg, (Pennsylvania, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Entry Level Operator. This job is full-time permanent. The Johnsonburg Mill manufactures uncoated freesheet paper used by customers to create brochures, direct mail, stationery, checks, envelopes, and hardbound books. New employees typically can earn an average of $70,000 per year after three years of service to the Johnsonburg Mill. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years full time work experience or post-secondary education
  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to work in a hot and humid environment
  • Willing and able to qualify to safely operate forklifts, lift trucks, and other motorized equipment

  • Ability to use chemicals in the paper process (chlorine, chlorine dioxide, sulfur compounds and sulfuric acid)
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery including overhead cranes and industrial trucks
  • Ability to handle massive weight and rolling of paper rolls
  • Ability to follow lock out / tag out procedures
  • Pass background check
  • Pass drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Operate state-of-the-art equipment and systems.
  • Work in a heavy manufacturing environment, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including holidays and weekends as designated by the Crew schedule.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safe work behaviors.
  • Utilize mechanical aptitude, basic computer and math skills, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Be flexible and work in a team environment.
  • Wear safety equipment, such as a hard hat, ear plugs, safety shoes, and safety glasses.
  • Climb ladders and high stairways/catwalks and climbing/descending ladders (e.g., during lockout or operational trouble shooting).
  • Perform a range of motion in various positions.
  • Walk and stand for long periods of time in an industrial setting.
  • Exhibit physical endurance and the ability to work in a hot and humid environment.
  • Qualify to safely operate forklifts, lift trucks, and other motorized equipment.
  • Work at heights greater than four feet from ground level.
  • Use chemicals in the paper process (chlorine, chlorine dioxide, sulfur compounds and sulfuric acid).
  • Operate heavy machinery including overhead cranes and industrial trucks.
