About The Position

S&ME is seeking a motivated and hard-working individual to pursue a career in non-destructive testing and evaluations as an NDT/NDE Professional in Charlotte, North Carolina. As an entry-level NDT Professional, you will ensure structural integrity and safety by visually inspecting structural steel, including bolted and welded connections. This role involves fieldwork testing and supporting office administration tasks such as scheduling, making travel arrangements, and supporting additional field staff and project managers in the construction service line.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering or the construction field
  • 0-2 years of experience in welding or construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt
  • The desire and willingness to obtain at least one (1) industry certification within 6 months of employment
  • Basic math and communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Must comply with Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
  • Must have valid employment eligibility (I-9).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Safety, DDC, NDT, and Radiation Training
  • Experience with the use of fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and deploy non-destructive testing methods to uphold impeccable quality standards, including ultrasonic inspection (UT) of welds and/or magnetic particle testing (MT) of welds.
  • Manage testing assignments across various projects.
  • Maintain testing equipment in working order and calibration, including managing field and laboratory equipment inventories, formal calibration records, and participating in quality systems audits.
  • Create detailed reports to effectively communicate findings.
  • Support the NDT and Construction Services teams with project assignments, deadlines, scheduling changes, and other office responsibilities related to meeting project deliverables.
