About The Position

The Boeing Company is looking for an Entry Level Embedded Software Engineer to join our C-17 Mission Software team in Fort Walton Beach, FL. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) & Boeing Global Services (BGS) Software Engineering organization. The C-17 Mission Software Team develops and test associated safety critical flight software in a fast paced agile engineering environment. Successful candidates will work closely with systems engineering teams, customers, suppliers, and field service representatives. Candidates will research and integrate new technologies to both modernize and sustain fleets of the world’s finest airlift platform. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to deliver new capabilities using the latest engineering techniques to design and test C-17 flight systems. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • Experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python
  • Experience developing software using Object Oriented principles
  • Experience in scripting languages
  • Experience working with Linux
  • Experience with build tools (examples: Gnu Compilers, Cygwin, Intel, ARM, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science or related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of directly related work experience OR 8+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, C++, C, Assembly, Matlab)
  • Ability to integrate hardware and software components into a functional system.
  • Knowledge of software testing and usability theory
  • Knowledge of testing, usability practices
  • Ability to write and execute test scripts and perform usability analyses
  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle
  • Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies
  • Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints
  • Ability to use established physical, mechanical, or scientific principles and perform appropriate tests to identify and solve problems encountered on the job, including the ability to locate and isolate the problem, identify possible solutions, and select approaches that are practical and effective
  • Knowledge of real-time target environments, including processor and network architectures, communication protocols, simulation frameworks and electrical interfaces
  • Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the design, development, test, debugging and maintenance of software that is integrated into embedded devices and systems and meets industry, customer, safety and regulation standards
  • Gathers information to review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into the design of software products for embedded devices and systems
  • Assists with building and writing code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware
  • Participates in integrating embedded software with hardware components
  • Aids in analyzing, monitoring and improving the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems
  • Provides information to test and debug software for embedded devices and systems
  • Assists with implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologies
  • Assists with tracking and evaluation of internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards
  • Gathers information to perform embedded software project management functions
