Entry-level Civil Engineer

About The Position

AECOM is hiring an Entry-Level Civil Engineer in Columbia, South Carolina. The position is expected to begin between Winter 2026 and Spring 2027. Under the supervision and instruction of experienced and senior engineers and project managers, the engineer will develop analytic and design skills, conduct engineering design, create design materials and working drawings, collect and analyze data, and use computer software to solve basic engineering problems. Work is performed on assigned tasks and in accordance with agreed-upon budgets and schedules. AECOM describes itself as a global infrastructure consulting firm working with public- and private-sector clients on projects in areas including water, environment, energy, transportation, and buildings. The role includes in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office as a condition of employment. Relocation assistance and sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization are not available.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior internship experience in a related field.
Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Adobe products, and Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

Build analytic and design skills.
Conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under supervision.
Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Use computer software to solve basic engineering problems.

Work on tasks assigned by Senior Engineers.
Work under the instruction of Senior Engineers and Project Managers.
