About The Position

Fifth Third Bank is seeking an Enterprise Valuation Analyst to work closely and effectively with the Director of Enterprise Valuation. This role involves performing independent business valuations to support credit and risk decisions, providing research support across the bank related to industry analysis and valuation trends, and supporting Commercial Credit with various portfolio projects. The position requires highly skilled quantitative, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information to build effective and easy-to-understand financial models. The analyst must be able to manage multiple projects independently, assume a high level of responsibility, and communicate effectively and proactively with deal teams and collaborators throughout the bank. The role is responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and following policies and procedures. The analyst must always do the right thing for customers and colleagues, ensuring actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience, and consistently identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks of all types within the Bank’s risk appetite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • 2-5 years of credit analysis or valuation experience preferably in Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, or industry vertical
  • Ability to analyze data and present conclusions effectively
  • Strong modeling and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Understanding of valuation concepts such as market comps, free cash flow, EBITDA, present value, and WACC

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the Bank's internal applications is a plus
  • CFA designation or in process is a plus (exam fees reimbursable under most circumstances)

Responsibilities

  • Use S&P Capital IQ to perform relative valuation analysis with guideline public companies and precedent M&A transactions.
  • Calculate enterprise value using discounted cash flow (DCF) model, including assessment of projected performance, discount rate (WACC), terminal growth rate, and other assumptions.
  • Perform projection modeling with Microsoft Excel using the Bank’s advanced Leveraged Finance model.
  • Analyze projections and assess likelihood based on industry data, historical performance, review of quality of earnings report, and reasonableness of add-backs.
  • Effectively communicate with deal team to obtain known comps and review projection assumptions.
  • Conduct industry research with S&P Capital IQ, IBIS World, Kroll, and daily publications.
  • Maintain database of valuations completed and metrics used to compare year-over-year changes.
  • Perform enterprise value reporting of bank portfolio and assessment of aggregate metrics.
