About The Position

The Enterprise Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, support, and continuous improvement of Boston Public Schools’ core enterprise technology systems. This role supports the management and integration of identity and access management systems, Google Workspace, Active Directory, endpoint management platforms, single sign-on, and enterprise security tools. Working as part of the Enterprise Systems & Security team, the Enterprise Systems Administrator plays a key role in ensuring system reliability, security, and operational continuity. This position is designed to promote shared ownership of critical systems, reduce single points of failure, and build redundancy across the team through cross-training, documentation, and collaborative support. This role is a hands-on technical position focused on execution, system support, and developing expertise across multiple enterprise platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–5 years of experience in systems administration or related technical roles
  • Experience supporting Google Workspace or similar enterprise platforms
  • Familiarity with identity management systems (e.g., Active Directory, SSO)
  • Experience supporting endpoint management and/or security tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
  • An understanding of and commitment to gain greater understanding of what is necessary for an urban school system to enjoy continuous improvement in an increasingly complex and competitive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Google Workspace, including user provisioning, access management, and system configuration
  • Support enterprise identity systems, including Active Directory, SSO platforms, and identity synchronization tools
  • Administer and support enterprise systems including MDM platforms (e.g., JAMF, Intune), endpoint security tools (e.g., EDR), web filtering systems (e.g., iBOSS), and identity management platforms (e.g., Clever IDM)
  • Assist with system integrations and support interoperability between platforms
  • Support implementation and rollout of new systems and enhancements
  • Monitor system performance and assist in enforcing security protocols across enterprise systems
  • Support system audits and assessments to identify risks, vulnerabilities, and performance issues
  • Assist in troubleshooting system outages, incidents, and security events
  • Work with cybersecurity and senior team members to ensure systems are aligned with security standards
  • Provide Tier 2 support for enterprise systems, resolving technical issues and supporting help desk escalations
  • Support staff and departments in effective use of enterprise platforms and tools
  • Assist with user onboarding, access requests, and system-related inquiries
  • Support data access and compliance-related processes as needed
  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations
  • Participate in cross-training across enterprise systems to ensure shared ownership and coverage
  • Support efforts to eliminate single points of failure across systems and processes
  • Follow and contribute to established standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, automation, and user experience
  • Stay current with platform updates, emerging technologies, and best practices
  • Participate in team knowledge sharing and professional development
