About The Position

The position is within the Division of Technology Operations (DTO) – IT Planning and Administration Project Management Unit. The consultant will manage and coordinate strategic and tactical assignments and project management activities associated with statewide enterprise-level and agency-level IT initiatives directed by the Division of Technology Operations and/or the Department of Administration. The Project Manager will coordinate project activities, deliverables, schedules, and deadlines with the Department of Administration's Program Management Office (PMO), Division of Information Security, Enterprise Privacy Office, other state agencies, and private-sector project professionals.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, best practices, and methodologies, including PMI PMBOK terminology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, documents, and correspondence.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, management, and project teams.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks according to schedules and project goals.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning and budgeting.
  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience.
  • PMI training or PMP certification

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Experience managing enterprise-level or statewide IT projects.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders, agencies, and vendors.
  • Experience with project financial tracking and budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Enterprise Project Manager for assigned IT projects.
  • Manage projects from initiation through completion using established project management methodologies.
  • Coordinate with private-sector project managers and internal state teams.
  • Track state resources, project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • Prepare and provide regular project status reports and updates to management.
  • Monitor project progress, risks, issues, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with PMO, Information Security, Privacy Office, state agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed according to established schedules and requirements.
  • Facilitate project meetings and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Manage project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Close projects in a timely and organized manner.
  • Document lessons learned and archive essential project documentation.
