Under the guidance of the Director, Procurement & Inventory, the Procurement Specialist coordinates site-specific supplier contracts, sourcing initiatives, and cost-savings programs. This role ensures the integrity of the contract lifecycle by performing "first-pass" reviews and maintaining critical metadata within the contract management system. The Specialist acts as a strategic bridge between site buying teams and enterprise-wide procurement goals, ensuring operational efficiency and macro-service functionality.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or contract management, preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Diploma of Collegial studies related field, or related experience.
  • Supply Chain educational background.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
  • Good understanding of analytical and project management approaches.
  • Team player in a team oriented dynamic environment.
  • Strong skills in cost analysis, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • High level of accuracy in data entry and contract review.
  • Capable of managing multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and have a willingness to take the initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform "first-pass" contract reviews to ensure all terms align with established parameters.
  • Maintain the contract management system, ensuring all required is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Proactively monitor expiring contracts to initiate timely reviews and renewals.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and vendor negotiations.
  • Support company-wide commodity sourcing initiatives as assigned.
  • Analyze market trends to identify potential suppliers and optimize the supply chain management paradigm.
  • Act as a buyer for specified commodity or service profiles.
  • Provide backup support for enterprise-wide cross-training initiatives to ensure business continuity.
  • Optimize supply chain workflows and work toward ensuring macro-service functionality across the organization.
  • Work closely with site buying team members to align local activities with enterprise procurement strategies.
  • Travel to various sites to lead initiatives and support local buyers on behalf of the Alta Enterprise Procurement group.
