About The Position

American Century Investments is a global asset manager with over 65 years of experience. They direct 40% of their dividends to the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, supporting breakthrough work in defeating diseases. This 10-week summer internship program offers hands-on experience in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or Data/AI. Interns will work with IT data professionals on meaningful projects, learn from mentors, and apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting. The program is designed for currently enrolled undergraduate rising seniors graduating between December 2027 and Spring 2028. The internship will take place from June 2nd to August 6th, requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The position is onsite and based in Kansas City, MO, or Southlake, TX. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Expected graduation between December 2027 and Spring 2028.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Coursework, academic projects, internship experience, or personal experience in one or more of the following areas: Python, SQL, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science, Cloud Computing (AWS or Azure), Artificial Intelligence (AI), or Machine Learning (ML).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with experienced data professionals on projects that influence business decision-making.
  • Explore technologies and platforms used across Data Engineering, Analytics, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML).
  • Learn how data is collected, managed, transformed, and leveraged to create value across the organization.
  • Gain exposure to modern cloud platforms, data pipelines, analytics tools, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, solve problems, and deliver impactful results.
  • Present project findings and recommendations to leaders and stakeholders.
