About The Position

The Enterprise Data Governance Product Manager will be part of the data governance space within Navy Federal Credit Union, supporting a wide spectrum of data governance capabilities across enterprise tools enabling data cataloging, metadata management, data ownership, lineage capture, privacy classification, data quality measurement, data quality and remediation processes. This role will partner closely with NFCU teams to ensure that supporting technology is aligned to Data Governance strategies and objectives. The Product Manager will develop and maintain strong partnerships with Credit Union Data Privacy, Information Security, Legal and Risk Management teams, ensuring that all supporting Enterprise Data Governance technology remains aligned to Enterprise Data Governance stakeholders. Additionally, the role will support the community of business data owners, partnering with Enterprise Data Governance Leadership, eliciting and distilling new requirements from the Community while supporting the roll out of new features and functionality.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience implementing industry data deletion and retention best practices.
  • Strong understanding of data retention, legal hold, deletion, and information lifecycle management.
  • Proven track record of building measurable, enforceable, and auditable governance controls that align with evolving business and technical requirements.
  • Experience applying data governance controls within data lake, analytics, ML, and MLOps environments.
  • Experience with medallion or lakehouse architectures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level communication.
  • Ability to partner effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Timeline Development: Ability to create detailed project timelines, manage deadlines, and ensure timely completion of project activities.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with other teams across the organization.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical skills to identify and resolve blockers and improve processes.
  • Leadership: Leading initiatives, guiding teams, and driving projects to completion.

  • Experience with lifecycle automation, deletion pipelines, or storage lifecycle policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advisory services and support execution of Enterprise Data Governance plans to enable the safe use of Enterprise data.
  • Establish and foster alignment around enterprise deletion strategy and roadmaps across cloud data platforms.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to identify and implement data deletion controls/processes aligned with data archival, deletion and retention standards.
  • Provide oversight and training to stakeholders responsible for deletion activities.
  • Coordinate compliance reviews and issue resolution activities.
  • Monitor deletion events and maintain corresponding reports, metrics, logs and Certificates of Destruction where required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
