About The Position

This role focuses on architecting, implementing, and improving a highly available, secure, and scalable enterprise compute platform. The engineer will serve as a technical authority for Windows Server, M365, and VMware, leading modernization efforts including hybrid cloud integration and championing automation-first practices. A key aspect of the role involves driving the adoption of AIOps capabilities for predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and automated remediation to enhance operational efficiency and reliability. The position also requires serving as a Tier 2/3 escalation point for complex incidents, managing service requests, and contributing expertise to cloud initiatives (AWS/Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and typically a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a master’s degree; and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Full understanding of Windows Server, VMware, and AI/ML operations, with knowledge of several adjacent functional areas and related technologies.
  • Applies strategic thinking to analyze complex situations, formulate plans, and provide recommendations for initiatives of medium-to-high complexity, with some management involvement.
  • Recognizes and uses the appropriate form of communication for the target audience; expresses ideas clearly and prepares communications that are comprehensive and logically organized.

  • Applied knowledge of containerization and virtualization technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud infrastructure and services (AWS, Azure).
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages (PowerShell, Python, Java) as applied to infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with AI-assisted scripting or code generation tools; ability to identify and implement use cases where AI improves operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Familiarity with natural language interfaces for operational automation (e.g., copilots, chat-based ops).

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and continuously improve a highly available, secure, and scalable enterprise compute platform.
  • Function as the recognized technical authority for Windows Server, M365, and VMware, providing consultation across support units and development teams.

  • Champion automation-first practices and Infrastructure as Code, encouraging team members to adopt new methods.
  • Build automation using PowerShell and other scripting languages.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions that measurably improve system efficiency and reduce manual effort across operational workflows.
  • Drive adoption of AIOps capabilities (predictive analytics, anomaly detection, automated remediation), applying strategic thinking to identify use cases where AI improves operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Leverage AI/ML tools to improve incident prediction and prevention, and capacity planning and performance optimization.
  • Develop and maintain self-healing infrastructure and automated remediation workflows.
  • Integrate AI-powered tooling into monitoring, ticketing, and operational processes.
  • Serve as the Tier 2/3 escalation point, exercising independent judgment to resolve complex incidents and anticipate issues before they impact users.
  • Fulfill complex service requests, independently managing scope, timeline, and delivery against established estimates.
  • Maintain monitoring and observability solutions.
  • Provide Production 24x7 coverage (when required) and support weekend implementations.
  • Contribute technical expertise to AWS/Azure initiatives, providing recommendations that consider customer impact and long-term scalability.
