About The Position

The Windows Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, engineering, and operating enterprise Windows-based compute platforms across a hybrid environment including on-prem data centers and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role focuses on Windows Server engineering, VMware virtualization, and core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and load balancing. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer capable of translating architectural designs into scalable, automated, and production-ready solutions while driving stability, standardization, and operational excellence across hybrid Windows environments.

Requirements

  • Strong expertise in Windows Server platforms (2016/2019/2022) and enterprise system administration.
  • Deep experience with Active Directory (AD DS), Group Policy (GPO), DNS, DHCP, and authentication services.
  • Hands-on experience managing enterprise DNS, DHCP, VIPs, and load balancing solutions (on-prem and/or cloud-native).
  • Strong experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, vCenter) and virtualization concepts.
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically Compute Engine (GCE).
  • Proven ability to operate and engineer hybrid infrastructure environments (on-prem + cloud).
  • Strong scripting and automation experience (PowerShell preferred).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar) and automation-first practices.
  • Strong understanding of compute, storage, networking, and system integration concepts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex system and infrastructure issues across multiple domains.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across IT engineering domains.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and commitment to high-quality engineering outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 8+ years of experience in Windows infrastructure engineering or system administration.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and enterprise infrastructure services.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware preferred).
  • Experience operating in hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-based compute platforms.
  • Experience with enterprise load balancing solutions (F5, AVI, cloud-native LB).
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure and migration programs.
  • Exposure to FinOps, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support Windows-based computer platforms across hybrid environments (on-prem + GCP).
  • Engineer and manage Windows Server infrastructure including domain services, enterprise compute, and application hosting platforms.
  • Lead and execute infrastructure builds, upgrades, and migrations across environments (on-prem to cloud, cloud-to-cloud).
  • Architect and support Active Directory environments, including domain services, trust relationships, Group Policy design, and authentication services.
  • Own and manage core infrastructure services, including internal DNS, DHCP, IP address management, virtual IPs (VIPs), and load balancing solutions.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot DNS zones, DHCP scopes, and enterprise name resolution services.
  • Engineer and support load balancing solutions (enterprise and cloud-native) for application traffic distribution, availability, and failover.
  • Translate high-level architecture into deployable, production-ready infrastructure solutions.
  • Engineer and manage virtualization platforms, including VMware (vSphere/vCenter), and compute services within GCP (GCE).
  • Implement and mature Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, PowerShell, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Drive automation across provisioning, patching, configuration management, and operational workflows.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts for platform incidents and implement long-term remediation solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards, patch management policies, and configuration baselines.
  • Collaborate with application, middleware, networking, and security teams to deliver integrated, resilient solutions.
  • Mentor junior analysts and engineers, promoting engineering best practices and operational discipline.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation, providing escalation support for critical infrastructure incidents.
