About The Position

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is hiring an IT Specialist (Enterprise Architecture) at the GS-2210-15 level within the Office of the Chief Information Officer. Selectees may be assigned to one of two companion positions: Enterprise Architect, Platforms and Infrastructure, or Enterprise Architect, Products and Applications. Together, these positions maintain OPM’s unified enterprise architecture and drive standardization, optimization, and adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and Zero Trust. The Enterprise Architect serves as OPM’s senior technical authority for enterprise architecture in the assigned domain. The role defines and evolves architecture visions, principles, frameworks, reference models, standards, reusable patterns, and technical governance methods; leads development of current- and target-state architectures and multi-year transition roadmaps; and co-maintains OPM’s unified enterprise architecture and Zero Trust Architecture framework with the companion architect. The architect reviews major proposed systems, platforms, acquisitions, and modernization initiatives, and serves as a senior technical evaluation authority for major IT acquisitions. The position advises senior OPM officials on architectural options, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs, influences stakeholders to adopt enterprise standards, and mentors architects and IT specialists. The Platforms and Infrastructure domain includes cloud and hosting, network, compute and storage, identity and access, endpoint, integration and API platforms, DevSecOps, and shared technology services. The Products and Applications domain includes business applications and digital products, application portfolios, data architecture, API design, software delivery, digital experience, and AI-enabled applications. This is a federal position requiring U.S. citizenship or nationality and suitability for federal employment. The selectee will be required to report to an OPM-assigned office, and the position is not eligible for inclusion in a bargaining unit. Relocation expenses will not be paid. There is no education requirement; qualifications are based on specialized experience and competency requirements, or qualifying certifications or evidence of professional eminence.
