As an Enterprise Architect Sr., within PNC's Technology organization, you can be based in Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Birmingham AL, Phoenix AZ, Dallas TX or Denver CO. PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position. The Enterprise Business Architect Senior collaborates with business and technology leaders across the enterprise to create and maintain the business architecture artifacts that connect strategy, capabilities, investments, and technology decisions. The objective of this role is to establish a clear business architecture foundation that enables strategic planning, portfolio rationalization, transformation roadmaps, and enterprise decision-making. This role serves as a key partner to business leaders, enterprise architects, solution architects, and technology stakeholders to ensure initiatives are aligned to business outcomes and enterprise priorities. This senior-level role requires strategic thinking, relationship management, facilitation, and analysis skills to guide stakeholders through business capability assessments, operating model discussions, target-state development, and transformation planning. This role operates within a TOGAF-oriented Enterprise Architecture practice responsible for defining and maintaining business architecture artifacts, supporting architecture governance processes, and providing guidance from strategic planning through execution.

Requirements

  • TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture experience.
  • Experience defining and implementing business architecture practices within large, complex organizations.
  • Experience facilitating strategic planning, operating model assessments, or transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage senior leaders and influence enterprise-wide decisions.
  • Enterprise systems thinking and strong understanding of capability-based planning.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to connect business objectives to technology investments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation programs.
  • Experience developing business capabilities, value streams, operating models, and target-state architectures.

  • Experience in financial services organizations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled business transformation and cloud-enabled operating models.
  • Hands-on experience performing Business Architecture within a TOGAF or TOGAF-like Enterprise Architecture framework.
  • Strong understanding of baseline and target-state architectures, gap analysis, and transition planning.
  • Experience developing capability maps, value streams, business taxonomies, and operating models.
  • Experience working within formal architecture governance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop business architecture strategies that support enterprise and line-of-business objectives.
  • Translate strategic priorities into business capabilities, value streams, and operating model changes.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor for business architecture best practices and strategic planning activities.
  • Provide thought leadership and mentorship across the architecture community.
  • Ensure business architecture artifacts adhere to enterprise standards and methodologies.
  • Support architecture governance reviews by providing business context and strategic alignment analysis.
  • Define and maintain standards for capability mapping, value stream modeling, and business architecture documentation.
  • Measure progress toward strategic objectives and recommend corrective actions when needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the enterprise architecture practice.

  • Provides guidance to enterprise architects on defining technical service capabilities, design attributes, draft enterprise profiles and segment architecture; controls risks and solves complex issues related to enterprise architecture.
  • Maintains relationships with stakeholders, addresses stakeholder requirements and provides clients consultations to shape the future success of enterprise architecture while also mitigating risk.
  • Provides enterprise architecture support by directing teams in baseline, target and roadmap development, transition planning, system and security management and segment architecture.
