About The Position

Develops and maintains the IT architecture framework for Dallas County. Ensures alignment between business objectives, IT infrastructure, and applications while promoting best practices in security, scalability, and interoperability. Works closely with Solution Architects, IT leadership, and cross-functional teams to define and govern enterprise-wide technology standards and policies. Leads enterprise-wide architecture initiatives, ensuring technology alignment with County-wide objectives. Takes on more strategic responsibilities, focusing on cross-functional alignment, large-scale solution design, and governance enforcement.

Requirements

Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field of study.
Five (5) years of work-related experience in IT, including two (2) years in an architecture or solution design role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to design scalable, secure IT solutions.
Excellent communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence IT decision-making.
Commitment to innovation and technology modernization within the County.
Knowledge of security best practices, compliance standards, and risk management frameworks.
Knowledge of enterprise IT systems, security frameworks, and cloud architectures.
Skill in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), networking, and database technologies.
Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and IT service management (ITSM) principles.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record.
Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history.
Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
Individuals holding or considered for a position which has, or may have, access to criminal justice databases including the FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems, NCIC/TCIC and similar databases, must pass a national fingerprint-based records check prior to placement in such position and may be denied placement in such positions and/or access to such systems.
Incumbents must also maintain the ability to pass the records check while in the position or until such time that the Commissioners Court and the County Civil Service Commission deem this position no longer has this requirement.
