About The Position

Enterprise Strategy & Architecture (ES&A) is a centralized architecture organization within the Information Technology department. ES&A supports the company’s safety, reliability, affordability, and regulatory objectives by providing clear architectural direction, disciplined governance, and practical guidance that accelerates delivery while reducing risk and complexity. Reporting to the Senior Manager Technology Architecture, this role serves as the Enterprise Architect for Operational Technology. The role owns architecture direction for facilities systems, sensors, field telemetry, control systems, and edge environments across substations, field sites, and other operational locations. The successful candidate is a systems‑level thinker and master planner who translates enterprise strategy into living target architectures, prioritized roadmaps, and reusable patterns, working early and continuously with delivery and operations teams to ensure solutions are aligned, secure, and executable. Architects in this role are expected to focus on enabling outcomes and delivery.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise, infrastructure, OT, facilities, platform, or solution architecture.

  • Experience designing or governing OT, facilities technology, sensor, telemetry, control-system, field technology, or critical infrastructure architectures.
  • Strong understanding of IT/OT integration, real-time telemetry, operational monitoring, infrastructure operations, cybersecurity controls, and enterprise-scale platform modernization.
  • Experience translating strategy into target architectures, standards, roadmaps, reusable patterns, and delivery guidance.
  • Experience writing code and supporting modern software delivery practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, code quality, and performance engineering.
  • Experience architecting mission-critical operational environments, including substations, control centers, field sites, plants, critical facilities, or industrial technology platforms.
  • Experience with sensor-to-platform architecture, edge computing, telemetry pipelines, facilities systems, time-series data, and alarm/event architectures.
  • Experience with OT cybersecurity, segmentation, critical infrastructure protection, operational resiliency, and disaster recovery planning. Experience operating in regulated, high‑reliability, or security‑sensitive environments
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders
  • Architecture certification such as TOGAF or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve target architecture for Operational Technologies and shared services, providing a clear north star that guides investment, design, and modernization decisions
  • Translate enterprise and IT strategy into capability‑based roadmaps, identifying maturity gaps, dependencies, and sequencing required to move from current to target state
  • Own architecture outcomes across a portfolio of Operational Technologies, ensuring alignment from strategy through implementation and operations
  • Define and govern the enterprise OT, facilities, sensor, and field telemetry architecture strategy across operational environments, including data centers, field sites, substations, control centers, critical facilities, and edge locations.
  • Architect sensor-to-platform and real-time telemetry patterns, including instrumentation standards, data collection, buffering, streaming, time-series data, alarm/event architecture, operational monitoring, and facilities/industrial observability.
  • Define IT/OT integration architecture across operational systems, facilities platforms, field devices, control systems, and enterprise technology environments, ensuring interoperability, supportability, and clear segmentation boundaries.
  • Architect OT cybersecurity, resiliency, and critical infrastructure protection patterns, including IT/OT segmentation, secure connectivity, operational continuity, disaster recovery, safety, regulatory, and critical infrastructure compliance requirements.
  • Lead architecture for edge and field computing environments, including compute at substations, plants, remote sites, control centers, and critical facilities, while ensuring solutions are resilient, observable, operationally supportable, and aligned to business continuity needs.
  • Engage early in planning and solution shaping, helping teams align on architecture direction, integration patterns, and non‑functional requirements before major commitments are made
  • Enable delivery teams through reusable architecture patterns, standards, reference architectures, and decision frameworks
  • Support architecture reviews and working sessions to surface risks, manage dependencies, and validate solution direction
  • Guide teams when deviations are required, managing trade‑offs and technical debt while maintaining enterprise coherence
  • Ensure architecture standards are current, practical, and consistently applied, focusing on reuse and simplification
  • Support IT strategic planning, modernization, and platform consolidation efforts
  • Coordinate roadmaps across infrastructure, security, application, data, and operations teams to manage interdependencies and conflicts
  • Lead or support vendor evaluations, platform selections, and RFP activities
  • Contribute to technology rationalization by reducing redundancy and improving platform consistency
  • Partner closely with business and IT leaders to align architecture with operational realities and strategic priorities
  • Collaborate across architecture disciplines to ensure enterprise‑wide consistency and integration
  • Coach and mentor engineers and architects, promoting strong architectural discipline and shared accountability
  • Use metrics and feedback loops to monitor progress, measure adherence to target architecture, and continuously improve architecture practices
