About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate education professional (certified teacher) to serve as an Enrichment Teacher in a community-based afterschool program for students in grades K-5. Program hours are 3:30-5:30 PM Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the school year, following the Henrico County Public Schools calendar. This part time position starts at $27-$31 per hour. Many of our students are English Language Learners, and we have a strong emphasis on literacy in this program, so experience in these areas is a preferred.

Requirements

At least three years of related experience.
Must be a high school graduate.
Must be 18 years of age.
At least six months experience working with youth.
Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and technological skills.
Strong relationship building, mentoring, communication and leadership skills.
Commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and service to diverse populations.
Proof of education (high school diploma/equivalent, unofficial college transcripts, college/university diploma, teaching certification) to be attached to application.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Develop relevant lessons.
Ensure academic and social development of scholars.
Identify the needs of scholars and create original instructional plans.
Monitor scholars' progress and make adjustments.
Work to create a safe and productive learning environment.
Provide mentorship to volunteers.
Supervise scholars in in-person day-to-day activities as well as special functions, such as field trips.
