About The Position

Enrichment Instructors provide leadership and supervision for assigned recreation program while also serving in a front-line lead role, providing safe and rewarding recreational opportunities for the community. BPRD is looking for Enrichment Instructors with experience teaching the following formats to adults, seniors, and adults with children: Technology - Computers, iPhones, iPads and Android phones Culinary - Pastry, cooking, baking; Arts and Crafts - Fiber arts, DIY/Home Arts & Craft Performing Arts - Vocal, musical instrumental, and piano

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; college coursework or vocations training with emphasis in related field preferred; AND Two (2) years of professional level experience in area of specialty area; OR Any satisfactory combination of experience and training.
  • Demonstrate competency in specialized area.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Effectively prepare and present lessons to a variety of audiences taking into consideration age, abilities and levels.
  • Effectively handling disruptions, conflicts, and responding to problems addressing customer service concerns, and emergency situations as they arise.
  • Work cooperatively with others and create a positive, constructive relationship with staff and customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Some teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned recreation programs and participants, staff and volunteers, and performs program-specific planning and evaluation.
  • Interacts with youth and adults through enrichment activities by planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising activities designed to be developmentally appropriate and inclusive of all skill levels and abilities.
  • Communicates on a regular basis with Coordinator, as well as patrons, participants, parent/guardians, community partners regarding questions, concerns and emerging issues.
  • Identifies and directs needed staff and equipment including addressing program-specific risk management/safety issues.
  • Manages accidents and incidents according to procedures.
  • Oversees general upkeep and care of equipment, supplies and facilities used.
