About The Position

The Robinson Center for Young Scholars seeks instructors to develop and teach enrichment courses through the 2026-2027 Enrichment Saturday Program for students currently in grades K-8. The courses are offered during the 2026-2027 school year on Saturday mornings at the University of Washington, Seattle campus. Each class lasts 1 or 2 hours, and instructors may teach up to 4 classes per Saturday. This temporary, hourly position involves curriculum internalization and implementation, classroom instruction, working with classroom aides, and attending all required orientation and professional development training. These classes are intended to provide intellectually ambitious students with challenge, inspiration, and fun, in a collaborative, supportive learning environment. We welcome instructors who have subject matter expertise in STEM, humanities, social sciences, arts, creative writing, and interdisciplinary topics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least four years of professional experience
  • Able to attend all class sessions and staff orientation for the 2026-2027 season
  • Experience working with K-8 youth

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment for a diverse population of students
  • Designing and/or developing the course curriculum for the year with the advice of the Program Manager for Teaching and Learning.
  • Preparing and delivering on time all course materials, including but not limited to course guide, class activities, lesson plans, and supply lists
  • Preparing and delivering classroom instruction
  • Collaborating with student support staff to communicate with families and appropriately support student needs
  • Creating and implementing appropriate differentiation and adaptations to support student engagement with the support of the Enrichment Admin team.
  • Attending all required professional development training
  • Attending staff orientation prior to the start of the program
  • Collaborating with classroom aide and instructional coach course development and individualized student plans
  • Receive coaching from the student success team
