About The Position

This is a part-time, fee-for-service position with potential for full-time opportunities, providing English as a New Language (ENL) instruction to students within school settings on a case-by-case basis. Services are delivered in various school-based cases throughout Westchester County, NY, typically during school hours and following the school calendar. The role involves developing and implementing engaging, culturally responsive, and differentiated lessons aligned with New York State learning standards, assessing student progress, and collaborating with school staff, families, and other professionals to support student development.

Requirements

Current New York State certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), appropriate for the students and grade levels served
Minimum of one year of experience providing ENL instruction or supporting English Language Learners and Multilingual Learners preferred
Knowledge of language-acquisition principles, differentiated instruction, and culturally responsive teaching practices
Experience working collaboratively with classroom teachers and school-based teams preferred
Passionate about working with children and their families
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to collaborate with educators and other professionals
Self-starter and independent problem-solver
Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

Provide individualized and small-group English as a New Language instruction to students within the school setting on a case-by-case basis.
Develop engaging, culturally responsive, and differentiated lessons that support students’ English-language development across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Align instruction with students’ English-language proficiency levels, classroom curriculum, and applicable New York State learning and language-development standards.
Adapt instructional materials and use visual, multisensory, and language-support strategies to make academic content accessible to English Language Learners and Multilingual Learners.
Assess students’ language skills, monitor their progress, and maintain accurate documentation of services and student outcomes.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, families, and other professionals to support students’ language development and academic participation.
Communicate regularly with lead supervisors and members of the school team regarding student progress, instructional needs, and service delivery.
Maintain accurate attendance and submit required electronic billing and documentation daily.
Maintain professionalism when communicating and working with students, families, teachers, administrators, and other professionals.
Participate in student-support meetings, parent meetings, and other school-based team meetings as requested.
