About The Position

Interprint, Inc. is seeking an Engraving Plating Technician for an immediate opening in Pittsfield, MA. The company designs and prints decor paper for laminate surfaces used in countertops, flooring, furniture, store fixtures, and other applications. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with chemicals in a manufacturing setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Engrave cylinders by ensuring the specified line resolution and cell configuration are met, using visual and microscopic evaluations of the cylinder surface and engraving.
  • Finish and chrome cylinders after engraving, including polishing and inspecting the cylinder surface.
  • Transfer engraving logs to the quality cert folder and perform data entry of cell volume measurements for record keeping.
  • Document daily engraving logs and enter data into an Excel file for engraving records.
  • Assist with cylinder logistics, including programming automation and entering cylinders into and out of the line.
  • Transport and retrieve cylinders between the cylinder department and the engraving room.
  • Install and remove adaptors for lab and odd-size bases.
  • Copy and rip files from the Repro Department to the DLS system and verify data accuracy for engraving specifications.
  • Conduct SAP transactions to close engraving orders and manage base stock movement for cylinder allocation.
  • Coordinate cylinders needed for re-chromes, plating, de-plating, and engraving.
  • Coordinate meetings with the production supervisor to review re-chromes and/or special requests for cylinders.
  • Ensure the operation of equipment, including daily inspection of the laser, finishstar, extraction system, chillers, and zinc dissolving tank.
  • Perform OEM-required services, such as changing filters, laser lamps, and cleaning the extraction chamber.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Department and outside vendors for preventative maintenance programs.
  • Maintain the cylinder engraving room by keeping the area neat, clean, and organized.
  • Clean and maintain all plating equipment.
