About The Position

This role involves developing and implementing curriculum, preparing lessons that cater to individual student differences, and presenting subject matter according to established guidelines. The teacher will employ various instructional techniques, cooperate with staff on instructional goals, and plan assignments for support staff. The position also requires the use of technology in teaching, assisting students with study habits, assessing student accomplishments, and participating in extracurricular activities. The teacher will serve as a positive role model, create a conducive classroom environment, administer discipline, and take precautions to protect students and resources. Responsibilities include assisting in the selection of instructional materials, maintaining open communication with students and parents, and upholding professional relationships with colleagues and the community. The role also involves participating in staff development, demonstrating professional improvement, and adhering to all state, district, and school regulations and policies. Additionally, the teacher will be responsible for maintaining and filing required documents and attending faculty meetings and committee assignments.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with appropriate certification for grades 6-8 English/Language Arts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and implementation.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience teaching English at the middle school level (grades 6-8).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
  • Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, campus policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
  • Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s).
  • Employ the use of technologies in the teaching/learning process.
  • Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and may sponsor outside activities approved by the school.
  • Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Establish control in the classroom and administer discipline in accordance with board policies, campus policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents and community members.
  • Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in the district staff development program.
