About The Position

Pelham Academy is a residential treatment setting for adolescents that specializes in trauma informed care. Pelham provides 24-hour comprehensive care including a school on site, a full clinical staff, nursing staff, and direct care staff. In this position, you will be able to convey your passion for helping others with a dynamic team by bringing an energetic and positive approach while working with our students!

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must be licensed or be eligible to be waived by the Massachusetts DESE for Special Education Moderate Disabilities 5-12 and/or Secondary Education licensure.
  • Knowledge of the relevant content area.
  • Maintains valid driver’s license as transporting students is required.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience with grades 5-12 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement structured lesson plans.
  • Build a therapeutic rapport with students.
  • Work collaboratively with the Special Education team to provide the best academics for students.
  • Attend meetings with family members, collaterals, and other teams to address student academic needs.
  • Help students discover what makes them feel competent and valued by working with them to develop important life skills.
  • Support students in developing a sense of self and provide them the skills to be successful in their next steps.
  • Provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for students.
