About The Position
Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time English Learner Teacher for a school setting in Birmingham, Alabama, serving a caseload in the i3 Academy District during the 2026–2027 school year. The role is listed as starting ASAP, with 1.0 FTE hours Monday through Friday. The teacher will provide high-quality English language instruction and support English Learners’ academic achievement, collaborating with educators and families to help ensure equitable access to learning. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), English Learner (EL) Education, or a related field.
- Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with an appropriate EL/ESL certification or endorsement, or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Knowledge of WIDA English Language Development Standards, WIDA ACCESS assessments, and best practices for English language instruction.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities
- Assess students’ English language proficiency using WIDA ACCESS and other state-approved screening and assessment tools.
- Deliver engaging English language instruction that develops students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement instructional strategies, accommodations, and supports for English Learners.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and complete required state and federal documentation.
- Participate in parent conferences, English Learner meetings, and IEP meetings when applicable, and collaborate with school staff to support student success.
- Ensure compliance with Alabama State Department of Education guidelines and federal Title III requirements for English Learner services.
