About The Position

Sierra Vista Unified School District is seeking passionate, dedicated English Language Learner Teachers to join their team in beautiful southeast Arizona. This position is for K-8 schools and involves supporting students towards their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. The role requires implementing the District's philosophy of education, guiding the learning process, assessing student needs, and employing appropriate instructional methods and materials. The teacher will diagnose learning disabilities, evaluate student accomplishments, provide progress reports, and maintain a positive learning environment. This position also involves maintaining records, counseling with colleagues, students, and parents, and assisting in upholding school rules and policies. The teacher will cooperate with staff in planning instructional goals and assist in selecting instructional equipment. Professional competence and harmonious involvement in community affairs are also expected.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Appropriate teaching certificate as issued by the State of Arizona to include appropriate vocational certification and endorsements.
• Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assist students toward the attainment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
• Implement by instruction and action the District philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing desired student performance objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicating these objectives to students.
• Assess students to determine whether desired student performance objectives are being achieved.
• Plan a program of study after identifying student needs.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis and refer to appropriate specialists where need exists.
• Evaluate, conscientiously and fairly, the accomplishments of students and provide progress reports as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
• Provide an atmosphere, physical and psychological, conducive to learning.
• Maintain accurate permanent academic and attendance records for students.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
• Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Governing Board Policy.
• Attend and participate in general faculty and department meetings.
• Cooperate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional equipment.
• Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Maintain active and harmonious involvement in community affairs.
• Perform other reasonable duties as may be directed by the Principal.
• Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
• Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality.
• Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures.
