About The Position

Jonesboro Public Schools is accepting applications for an English Learner Teacher. This role requires a specialist with an ESL Endorsement and an Arkansas Teaching License, along with a minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of best practices in education for K-12 English Learners, and will be responsible for developing and presenting effective lessons to promote English Language Development. This position also involves maintaining accurate records of English Language Learners and developing and presenting professional development to teachers, administrators, and staff on supporting diverse populations, including English Learners. The role includes modeling, coaching, and supporting the implementation of instructional strategies and assisting teachers in supporting diverse populations.

Requirements

  • Must have an ESL Endorsement
  • Must possess an Arkansas Teaching License
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of best practices in education for K-12 English Learners
  • Experience working with families, students, or speakers of other languages
  • Ability to communicate and work well with diverse populations, and willingness and ability to adhere to the statewide procedures and standards.
  • Demonstrates efficient utilization of current technology for communication, data collection, and reporting
  • Submits all required documentation and data in a timely manner
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Develop and present effective lessons to promote the English Language Development of English Learners.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of records of English Language Learners.
  • Develop and present professional development for classroom teachers, administrators and instructional support staff focused on supporting a diverse population including English Learners.
  • Model, coach and support implementation of lessons and instructional strategies and assist teachers with supporting a diverse population including English Learners.
