The Academic Instructor position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-based technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24. Summary of Duties: We’re looking for a Part-Time English Language (ELL) Instructor to support students who are learning English as a second language. In this role, you’ll help students build confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and listening—while also preparing them for career and academic success. As an instructor, you’ll play a key role in helping students grow academically and personally Academic Instructors Must: This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about teaching and enjoys working with diverse learners. You’ll thrive in this position if you: Have experience teaching English language learners or similar student populations Create engaging, student-centered learning environments Adapt your teaching style to meet different learning needs Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with students and staff Stay organized and manage multiple responsibilities effectively Bring energy, patience, and enthusiasm into the classroom Description of Duties: As an ELL Instructor, you’ll create a supportive and engaging classroom environment while helping students develop essential language and life skills. Your responsibilities will include: Teaching English language skills including grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and pronunciation Creating lesson plans and instructional materials that meet diverse student needs Assessing student progress and adjusting instruction to support improvement Supporting students in preparing for tests, certifications, and next steps (employment, training, or college) Integrating real-world skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork into lessons Maintaining accurate records, including attendance, progress notes, and required documentation Collaborating with academic, career technical training, and support staff to ensure student success Providing guidance and encouragement to help students stay engaged and motivated Supporting students with accommodations and individualized learning plans when needed Creating a positive, structured, and safe learning environment
